Well, I’ve certainly had time off from the interwebz over Chrissy and New Year – but here are my photos from New Year’s Eve!
I went to a fave club Black Cherry, forgoing my usual fireworks watching. It was HOT, so I wore a sleeveless River Island black bodycon dress with an exotic tribal design in gold foil front and back, from asos. (It’s still available in some sizes, at only $42.50!)
To this I added a black cowhide peplum belt – admittedly, I yoinked the idea from asos Fashion Finder, but I can’t find the blogger who posted the look. I did a quickie DIY leopard print to the shaved part of my head – not entirely successful, the print being too big and too dark, but it was eye-catching! Jewellery was minimal, being some spooky gothic earrings from Japan (a skeleton hand and zipper), skull rings also from Tokyo, and some gold Indian bangles from my trip last April. Net stockings and black platform shoes from Berjaya Times Square in KL completed the look.
But onto the pics:
And some with obligatory funny faces:
And now for the full length shot:
Do you know, it seems silly now, but I was going to wear this to a Tokyo fashion party when I was last there, at which I would’ve met Misha Janette and Neeko, but thought I looked too fat in it- and I didn’t even go! Looking here, I’ve got a discernible belly, but it’s pretty proportionate to my overall curves. Crazy how we can be, huh?
In other New Year related news, I decided not to buy any New Years Lucky bags or fukubukuro this year from my fave Japanese labels. I have too many clothes as it is, and still have stuff unworn from when I bought fukubukuro 2 years ago! However, I did visit Rakuten and bought just one oversized knit top in white with a black rib design on it. It arrived a few days later and looks great! Pictures will be following soon, natch.
Anyway, I have several dress-up events coming up soon, including the wonderful Cobweb Club on Jan 26 with its theme “Undead“. Boy, do I need to get to work on that outfit! More on the event soon.
How was your New Year’s Eve? Did you dress up? Did anyone buy a lucky bag and were you happy with your purchase?
I had a great New Years, watched the 9pm fireworks at Brighton Le Sands, then went to a friends house. I LOVE that dress, I think you look amazing in it, and in no way at all fat! It suits you well!
Aww, I wish I could’ve seen the fireworks – I do love them so!! And they played Gangam Style!! And thank you for the compliment 🙂
That dress is really great! It’s funky enough to dress up and you could even wear it to a more traditional cocktail party or something. Looking good!
Thanks! Yeah, I do like that it can be elegant…a bit different to a lot of my punk and goth stuff!
