Hooray!! We’re finally settled into our new house, with internet and foxtel installed, and new puppy to love! Hello to regular posting…I have so many things to share!
But this being largely a fashion blog, the first thing I have to share with you is my new dressing room. Yes, I finally have a room that’s totally given over to housing my clothes, shoes, accessories and craft things. It has a high ceiling, original cornices and ceiling rose, polished boards and big sunny windows. Now, the room still has to have the beautiful metallic teal damask wallpaper put up, as well as a glamorous lighting fixture, and some things need to be put away.
But it is ready enough to show. What I’m most pleased with are these chocolate bookcases that I’m using as my shoe display:
There is also a wall of wardrobes on the opposite wall, and in the middle of the room is a divan where I can sit to put my shoes on, and which doubles as a bed when a guest comes to stay.
No matter how much space you have, you end up wanting more! But I tell you, I just love walking in and being able to see all my lovely shoe treasures on display. It makes it so much easier when co-ordinating outfits. And it t is certainly a big step up from the wonky little wooden stacked shelves that I’ve been using for the past year. These bookcases were 3 for $600,(the other bookcase being in our study, actually holding books).
There’s a real solidity about the storage, and it looks like a glam shoe store to me 🙂 I originally wanted a whole walk-in dressing room, with custom cabinetry, but for now I’m going with these units, which I can take with me when we leave. What do you think? As for me, I’m chuffed to bits!
Ohhh! I love it! How amazing is it having a room dedicated to your clothes & shoes! I’m currently moving from my house in Adelaide, back in with my parents in Sydney, and I think having a closet room is one of the main things I am going to miss!!
Oh, I’m sure!! Lucky you to have had the space tho 🙂 Are you gonna be staying with them for a while, or getting your own place again here?
Holy boot envy. I am eying the boots with what look like red laces. I don’t think I’ve seen them in any of your posts. WANT! The shoe display is awesome. Congrats again on the new house (and puppy!).
Ahh…those are Mad Fish boots from Pennangalan (they’re vegan, tho I’m not) – link is here: http://www.pennangalan.co.uk/boots/FW282.php But they’re discontinued and only have UK size 4 left. I’m a 5, which is 38 or 39, so 4 is probably between 36 & 37. Mind you, I don’t wear mine except to muddy festivals..so if you’re a 8/38 let me know. I have too many boots as it is! And thank you for the congrats 🙂
*.* I dream of having one day a room just for my clothes and my shoe.
I leave my closet door open because I like to hang my clothes instead of folding them and hiding them… so I leave the door open so that when I wake up in the morning, I can see my pretty and colorful clothes hahahaha how silly~
I totally know what you mean…it’s lovely to see the pretty things that make us happy 🙂 Not silly at all 😉
I feel like I should just go over to your house and steal all your shoes. I’m sure you won’t notice anything missing! =P
Hehe…not MUCH I wouldn’t!! Understandably, this room of mine is OFF LIMITS to my new pup…can you imagine my designer shoes in tatters? It’d be devastating 🙂
sooo jealous i sooo want a walk in wardrobe and holy cow i need your shoe collection!
It HAS taken me til my 40’s to get this (and an understanding husband – heh!) I am rather proud of the shoes and boots…but I promised it’d have to be one in/one out when it comes to new pairs now 😉
Your dressing room looks GREAT! Love the shoe display! I was thinking along those lines until I realized I have over 80 pairs of shoes and they just couldn’t be housed like that. Can’t wait to see more photos of the fabulous things you’re doing to your new home! AND the wallpaper you’re going to put up in there sounds GLORIOUS! YAY!
Wow – over 80??!! I kinda put the brakes on a wee bit, or I’d need a whole room just for shoes. I doubled some of mine up, as you can see, but it’s not as attarctive. How do you house yours?
Hi, how mmuch is the shoe rack?
Each one was $199, at an aussie ebay store called yes24-7. But I’m sure Ikea would have something similar 🙂
